Role OverviewThe Mechanic diagnoses and repairs diesel tractors, trailers, and other wheeled vehicles. The role involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods. The Mechanic must adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times.
What You Will Do
The Mechanic will diagnose and repair vehicle problems, discuss extensive or difficult repairs with the Terminal Manager, and enforce CEMEX safety policies and regulations. The role involves routine scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and circuitry.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The Mechanic must be able to understand, interpret, communicate, and execute instructions given in both verbal and written form. Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus. The role requires the ability to recognize potentially hazardous situations and possess common sense.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possession of valid Driver’s License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or the ability to obtain such a license within the new employee evaluation period (180 days) with driving record that meets company requirements in order to retrieve or test drive company commercial vehicles
- Forklift certified or willing to obtain
- TWIC preferred or willing to obtain
