Mechanical - Structural Analyst

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Livermore, CA
Job Description
Join Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and contribute to the development of finite element analysis (FEA) models to support stockpile programs. Perform computational modeling and simulation using advanced, nonlinear finite element analysis codes developed at LLNL to evaluate structural and material responses to combined thermal, quasi-static or dynamic, and hydrodynamic loads under time-dependent kinematic conditions.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance
  • Masters degree in mechanical, structural, or aerospace engineering, or structural/applied mechanics, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Experience with commercial FEA tools (LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, ANSYS, ADINA or similar), or NNSA national laboratory codes (ParaDyn, Diablo, Sierra, or similar)
  • Fundamental knowledge of continuum mechanics (or advanced solid mechanics) and the finite element method
  • Ability to work under general direction and use independent judgment to determine analysis methods and evaluation criteria while working independently or as part of a team within the assigned project group

Benefits

  • Flexible Benefits Package
  • 401(k)
  • Relocation Assistance
