Job Description
We are searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide structural and mechanical design support for SLS vehicle development, focusing on spacecraft/payload integration. The role requires working independently and as part of an integrated team, with responsibilities including providing design support, modeling, and managing CAD files.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering or related field is required (ABET-accredited university preferred).
  • Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle systems, structural design methods, test methodology, material behavior, and fabrication methods.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and design tolerances, and ability to use PTC Creo 9.0 or newer to create detailed drawings per ASME Y14.100-2000 and/or Global Drawing Reference Manual.
  • Ability to apply best CAD practices for robust development of PTC Creo 9.0 or newer drawings, assemblies, and models, and fluency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5 for drawing development including tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill PLM/PDM software to manage and control models and drawings is preferred.
  • Capable of functioning in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers with expertise in aerosciences, manufacturing and producibility, structural test equipment, and test hardware, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite competence (Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) is required.
