Job Description
Skjodt-Barrett is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Lebanon, Indiana as a project leader. The successful candidate will focus on mechanical systems, production equipment, automation, and line optimization, ensuring equipment supporting filling and sealing processes operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Requirements

  • Mechanical engineer with experience in food manufacturing or a highly automated production environment
  • Experience with form, fill & seal (FFS) equipment
  • Understanding of how mechanical systems, automation components, and production equipment work together to deliver consistent, compliant output
  • Ability to design mechanical solutions, set up and optimize production lines, troubleshoot equipment, and manage timelines using Excel and Gantt charts
  • Solid understanding of packaging materials, including films, laminates, and plastics, and how they interact with different food products
  • Familiarity with packaging line automation, process validation, and performance testing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and use tools such as Gantt charts to plan, track, and manage project milestones
  • Knowledge of programming or controls integration to support troubleshooting and optimization
