Job Description
The Medication Care Manager is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe organized manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to administration of medications, documentation of medication administration, and providing resident care while demonstrating the Mission for Sunrise Senior Living, “to champion the quality of life for all seniors” in accordance with federal, state/provincial, and local laws, standards, and regulations and Sunrise Senior Living policies to promote the highest degree of quality care and services to our residents.

Requirements

  • Administer medication and treatments in a safe organized manner
  • Document and initial medication administration
  • Provide resident care
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • Report resident concerns and unavailable medications
  • Restock medication cart
  • Assist in checking medication
  • Count narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Lead Care Manager
  • Maintain and clean the Medication Room, medication carts, and treatment carts
  • Follow re-fill process for medications
  • Help residents maintain independence and promote dignity and physical safety
  • Strive to understand and respond to each resident with empathy
  • Practice good standard care precautions
  • Notify Resident Care Director of resident and/or family concerns
  • Attend and actively participate in daily Cross Over meetings
  • Participate in the development of the Individualized Service Plans (ISP)
  • Partner with community team to ensure community is in compliance with national/provincial regulations
  • Practice safety procedures
  • Report accidents/incidents immediately
  • Report all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately
  • Ensure cords, carts, equipment, and other hazards are kept out of the way
  • Comply with all infection control techniques
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately
  • Ensure oxygen tanks are stored safely
