Role OverviewMedical Assistant I is the entry, developmental and first working level of the Medical Assistant Job Family. Under general supervision in an outpatient clinical setting, the medical assistant performs a variety of routine administrative, clerical and technical supportive services to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
What You Will Do
Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks, performs medical procedures of a routine nature, takes vital signs, gives injections, transports medications, performs simple diagnostic tests, collects specimens, draws blood, sterilizes and cleans equipment and maintains examination rooms and supplies.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct. Demonstrates knowledge of the need for secure storage of medications, and demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of all requirements in a recognized Medical Assistant training program or equivalent completion of the minimal training requirements as outlined in section 1366 of the Business and Professions Code
- Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) or RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support
