Role Overview

The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers at Brigham and Women's Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham. This position involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

What You Will Do

Show patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments. Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, maintain inventory of immunizations, and provide immunizations as applicable.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires 1-2 years of direct MA experience or medical field work, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and proficiency in electronic health record systems and medical office software. Candidates with an Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting, BLS Certification, or Certified Medical Assistant credential are preferred. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
  • Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure
  • Ability to collect blood samples and other specimens
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
