Role OverviewThe Mental Health Worker (MHW I) provides physical and emotional care to patients in inpatient settings, assisting in the rehabilitative aspects of patient care and supporting patients to achieve their highest level of independent functioning.
What You Will Do
Provides direct care services, assists clients in learning daily living skills, and implements habilitative/rehabilitative behavioral interventions. Maintains patient records, accompanies patients to appointments, and organizes leisure activities.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Requires ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and interact with people under emotional stress. Experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness is preferred.
Requirements
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Capacity to perform basic mathematics
- Proven ability to gather information through observing and questioning individuals
- Talent for communicating effectively in oral expression, writing clearly and concisely
- Skilled in interacting with people who are under emotional stress
