Role Overview

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office is seeking a Bureau Chief in the Medicaid Fraud and Patient Abuse Unit (MFPAU), a federally certified Medicaid Fraud Control Unit responsible for investigating and prosecuting Medicaid provider fraud and patient abuse or neglect statewide. The Bureau Chief directs all Unit operations, leads a multi-disciplinary team of attorneys, investigators, and auditors, and serves as the primary liaison to federal partners.

What You Will Do

Direct all MFPAU operations, including strategic direction, case prioritization, and staff supervision. Supervise assistant attorneys general, investigators, and auditors on complex criminal and civil healthcare fraud matters. Lead criminal prosecutions and civil enforcement actions involving Medicaid provider fraud, patient abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Nebraska, or clear ability to be licensed by motion
  • Minimum of seven years of litigation experience, including significant criminal prosecution or complex civil litigation experience
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience
  • Excellent legal writing skills, professional judgment, and commitment to public service
