Role Overview

The Middle School Coach develops, initiates, and administers the boys basketball program, preparing student athletes for interscholastic competition. The coach is responsible for practice sessions, games, and ensuring student eligibility. The coach must uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.

What You Will Do

Conducts practice sessions and games, verifies student eligibility, monitors physical condition and fitness, and teaches essential safety skills. The coach must also communicate with the athletic director, distribute and collect athletic equipment, and maintain a work schedule.

The ideal candidate is a professional with previous coaching and/or playing experience, knowledge of adolescent physical development, and expertise in the fundamentals of the sport. Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • Current CPR certification and first aid training
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience
  • Knowledge of adolescent physical development and sport skills and regulations
  • Expertise, knowledge, and competency in fundamentals of the sport
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work collaboratively as a part of a coaching team
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends
  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Able to work well with others in the school community
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
