Role OverviewAs a Level I (Special Education) Para Educator, you will assist students' daily training programs who need a little bit of extra help. You will work as part of a team of 70 serving 8,000 students at 18 campuses across Helena. You will contribute to the mission of Helena Public Schools by fostering dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life.
What You Will Do
Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting students with learning assigned materials and instructional exercises, tutoring students with special needs individually or in small groups, providing assistance with hygiene and feeding, and serving as supervision on lunch and recess duty.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will possess an associate's degree and experience working with disabled children. You will need to have the ability to safely work with escalated students who may hit, kick, bite, and scratch during crisis intervention prevention.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training
- Associate's degree (or equivalent education)
- Ability to safely work with escalated students who may hit, kick, bite, and scratch during crisis intervention prevention
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and/or push/pull up to 100 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
