Role Overview

We are a tuition-free public charter school serving K–8 students at Wendell Phillips School 63. Our students come with high needs and extraordinary potential — and our staff shows up every day to meet both. We are seeking a Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our departmentalized middle school team, assigned to one grade level — either 6th, 7th, or 8th grade — determined collaboratively based on the candidate's strengths and best fit.

What You Will Do

Teach social studies to one assigned middle school grade level (6th, 7th, or 8th — placement determined collaboratively based on best fit), deliver instruction using Savvas social studies curriculum with 100% fidelity, use data to inform daily and weekly instruction, and implement SIOP-aligned strategies to support Multilingual Learners in all social studies instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree — a background in social studies, history, geography or a quantitative field is strongly preferred
  • Valid Indiana teaching license OR enrolled in / willing to enroll in a state-approved transition-to-teaching program
  • Genuine growth mindset and openness to coaching and instructional feedback
  • Commitment to high expectations for all students, including students with high needs
