Job Description
The primary goal of the Migrant Advocate is to ensure migrant children meet State academic content and achievement standards. The advocate will identify, develop, and monitor community, school, or federal services needed by migrant students or families.

Requirements

  • Works within the Local Educational Agency (LEA) toward the goal of ensuring programs that serve migrant children are of the highest quality
  • Supports migrant students and families in conducting needs assessments and creating customized action plans
  • Develops, revises, and evaluates curriculum to meet the needs of students
  • Evaluates student progress regularly using district and/or standardized assessment tools
  • Provides assistance in scheduling workshop presenters and other support needed for migrant activities
  • Attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions in specific migrant program areas
