Job Description
As the first
Mission Advancement Officer
for Habitat for Humanity of Georgia (Habitat Georgia), this role establishes the foundation for long-term growth and sustainability of our mission. By developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, cultivating major partnerships, and strengthening donor engagement, the Mission Advancement Officer will ensure that affiliates across Georgia have the resources and support they need to expand affordable housing solutions in their communities. This position is not only about raising funds — it is about building systems, shaping culture, and advancing a collaborative movement that aligns with Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. The person in this role will be instrumental in positioning Habitat Georgia as a leader and trusted partner in addressing the state’s housing challenges, driving measurable change for families today and for generations to come.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
* Lead the planning, implementation, and oversight of all fundraising activities, including annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, institutional giving, capital campaigns, in-kind donations, and fundraising events.
* Personally manage a portfolio of principal donors and cultivate six-figure+ individual and institutional gifts.
* Stay ahead of emerging fundraising trends, bringing innovation and fresh strategies to grow donor engagement and revenue.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
* Identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects across diverse funding streams.
* Develop and implement an annual stewardship plan with goals, objectives, and action steps for different donor segments.
* Ensure meaningful engagement and recognition for all donors, strengthening long-term relationships.
Institutional Partnerships & Grants
* Serve as the primary relationship manager for key corporate, foundation, and institutional partners.
* Outreach to potential sponsors for our Habitat Georgia events and programs.
* Oversee the development and submission of grant proposals, donor communications, and event materials.
* Collaborate on marketing and communications strategies to deepen donor connections and expand the partner base.
Program Systems & Infrastructure
* Select, implement, and optimize donor database systems (e.g., Salesforce, GiveEffect).
* Track, analyze, and report fundraising progress to the CEO, Operations Consultant, and Board.
* Ensure alignment of fundraising activities with the organization’s mission, policies, and strategic plan.
Leadership & Capacity Building
* Provide guidance, coaching, and training to staff, board members, and affiliates on fundraising best practices.
* Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and achievement-oriented culture across Habitat Georgia’s network.
* Represent Habitat Georgia at community events and with external partners to elevate the mission.

QUALIFICATIONS
* At least five years of demonstrated fundraising experience, donor relations, and partnership development, including six-figure gifts.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit operations.
* At least two years of development management in the nonprofit sector.
* Fosters collaboration and inspires trust.
* Handles confidential data ethically and professionally.
* Exceptional written and verbal communicator who can move hearts and minds.
* Strategic thinker with a track record of turning ideas into measurable results.
* Skilled with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital communication platforms.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and ready to lead in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to travel locally during the business day and on occasion overnight.
* Ability to work closely with racially, ethnically, religiously, and economically diverse groups of homeowners, volunteers, sponsors/donors, media representatives, and the public.
* Knowledge of Georgia’s philanthropic community is preferred.
* Must successfully complete a criminal and motor vehicle background check
* Passion for affordable housing and a deep commitment to Habitat’s mission and values.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range
: $80,000 - $90,000
Paid Time Off (PTO): Personal days, sick leave, and holidays
Health Benefits: Health Stipend
Retirement Benefits: Available after the first year of employment
