Role Overview

The Engineering Technician-Co-Op will participate in hands-on training and job-shadowing opportunities aligned to organizational needs, support the GDMS mission of providing smarter mission-critical systems and products, and engage in professional development activities throughout the internship.

Participate in hands-on training and job-shadowing opportunities, support the GDMS mission, engage in professional development activities, and network with GDMS leadership and industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed Phase 1 – GMU Canvas online nanofabrication foundations course (20 hours | Feb 16 – Mar 1, 2026)
  • Successfully completed Phase 2 – Full bootcamp week + ~240 hours of hands-on lab training at GMU's SciTech or Fairfax campus (Mar 9 – Aug 31, 2026)
  • Clear understanding of Nano concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards
  • Creative thinker with ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success
