Role Overview

As a Sr Principal Network Engineer at GDIT, you will shape what's next for mission-critical government projects while advancing your career in engineering. You will serve as a recognized authority, evaluating, designing, documenting, installing, implementing, testing, and performing problem isolation and resolution. You will also be responsible for monitoring, tuning, and setting standards.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include utilizing monitoring and performance analysis tools, network management software, and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity. You will also assist in developing and delivering internal training programs, meet regularly with other network team members to plan and coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues, and communicate changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Or additional years of experience in lieu of degree
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of all phases of network operations

  • Capability to provide clear written documentation on network procedures
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff from other sections on complex client/server issues

  • Ability to review and detect errors or recommend modifications in the work of others
  • Must be able to lead and guide a small team, work well with others, and demonstrate the ability to change direction based on new requirements
