Role Overview

The Network LAN/WAN Administrator will be responsible for cabling and termination, testing, and splicing of fiber optic cables. The role requires 100% travel within the USA and involves working at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces. The Administrator must be self-motivated, positive, and professional, with the ability to create and implement project process improvements.

What You Will Do

The Network LAN/WAN Administrator will perform tasks such as mounting and installing racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware, installing grounding for racks, equipment, and cable, and testing continuity using a volt-ohmmeter. The role also involves troubleshooting opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable, and using a tone set to identify and correct problems.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic cabling and termination, and will be proficient in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems. Industry certifications such as Corning/FOA/BICSI are preferred, as well as experience in data center installation, mechanical and fusion splicing, and OSP/confined space entry.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficient in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems
  • 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic cabling and termination
  • Industry certifications such as Corning/FOA/BICSI
