Network Plant Technician (Fiber Tester) JNY

Requirements

• Surveys, designs, and implements physical fiber connections and tests live/dark fiber to ensure no signal loss in splices or distribution.
• Splices and terminates fiber and copper cables used in telecommunications systems.
• Performs fiber optic cable fusion splicing and testing using multifunction splice machines.
• Lays cable along existing raceways and pathways.
• Locates cables and routes them through walls, ceilings, and conduits as required.
• Assists with splicing overhead or underground telecommunications cables.
• Supports installation of pre-fabricated communication shelters, including ISP/OSP cable entry and overhead cable tray installation.
• Measures, cuts, installs, and tests fiber and copper cables in accordance with established test plans and standards.
• Validates that all components are properly installed, secured, grounded, and tested.
• Maintains worksite cleanliness and restores sites to original or better condition after installation activities.
• Performs tasks under the supervision and guidance of senior-level staff.
• Ensures accurate cable labeling and identification.
• Generates reports and provides updates to the Site Project Manager.
• Maintains organized files and documentation for reporting and recordkeeping.
