Job Description
KCTV 5 is seeking a Weekend Evening Anchor/MMJ who can deliver broadcast packages, produce streaming desk updates, and anchor streaming content. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in multiple platforms and has experience producing content natively for streaming and social video platforms.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of on-air experience in broadcast news as a reporter, anchor, or MMJ.
  • Demonstrated experience producing content natively for streaming and/or social video platforms, including vertical video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
  • Strong live anchoring/reporting skills with the ability to deliver calm, credible, and conversational coverage during breaking news and/or severe weather.
  • Mobile journalism proficiency, ability to shoot, edit, and publish content independently in the field, including vertical video capture with reuse across platforms in mind.
  • Understanding of audience behavior across platforms, including when and why viewers turn to streaming vs. broadcast vs. social, and how to tailor content accordingly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to work a weekend evening schedule, including holidays, and to pivot quickly when breaking news or severe weather demands extended coverage across all platforms.
