Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner (Children's National Pediatricians & Associates) works independently with collaborative supervision using intuitive skills when problem solving in complex clinical situations. Demonstrates a highly skilled analytical ability in novel circumstances. The NP is credentialed to function in an expanded nursing role. Responsible for the assessment and management of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and the implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care.

Requirements

  • Assess individual patient clinical status and well-being by obtaining complete medical history and examination; developmental assessment; ordering appropriate laboratory tests, and x-rays as indicated.
  • Collaborate with other health care team members, clinics and community agencies; address patients care needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, based on existing protocols and individual patient and family needs, including continuity of care issues.
  • Prescribe legend drugs according to guidelines.
  • Provide clinical expertise for patients, families, and team members.
