Nurse Technician RN Student - Children's Med Surg Oncology

Requirements

• Basic patient care and ADLs are defined as: patient bathing, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties that they have verified completion of competencies.
• Assists in patient admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
• Measures, collects, and documents patient data according to policy (e.g., weight, vital signs, O2 sats) and reports symptoms, reactions, and changes in patients' condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and appropriate patient care (personal hygiene, linen changes, assists with meals, elimination).
• Assists with transporting and mobility needs of patient.
• Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers the medications to the nurse and/or place medications in a secure location as determined by the nurse manager.
• Keeps patient rooms and nursing station areas clean and orderly.
• Collaboration & Partnership: Assists physicians with examination, treatments, and special tests.
• Collaboration & Partnership: Collects patient specimens and transports specimens to the lab.
• Utilizes equipment safely for patient care as directed by a Registered Nurse.
• Quality: Adheres to standards of nursing and the policies and procedures set forth by the institution in an effort to enhance the quality and efficiency of hospital nursing services.
• Quality: Utilizes all equipment, supplies, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner.
• Quality: Observes and adheres to quality standards established by the department.
• Quality: Participates in continuous quality improvement programs.
• Is aware of behavioral/psychological changes of patients and promptly reports changes to assigned nurse or charge nurse.
• Adapts care to the patients need and level of development.
