Role Overview

The Nursing Assistant provides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse. The role involves demonstrating competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions. The Nursing Assistant collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.

What You Will Do

The Nursing Assistant performs or assists patient with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, activity). They communicate abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff and collect information regarding patient/patient condition: vital signs, intake and output, food intake.

Requirements

  • High school graduate/GED preferred
  • Prior experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting may be used as a substitute to the education requirement
  • Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred
  • CPR certified preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patient, family, peers and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Requires emotional stability and maturity; must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; exhibits organizational and leadership ability
