Role OverviewThis role develops and maintains relationships with elected officials and their staff, staff in New York City agencies, the New York City Council, Borough Presidents, and key stakeholders to enhance National Grid’s reputation within the jurisdiction. Build coalitions and relationships within the jurisdiction to create third party advocates for National Grid in the policy, legislative, political, community, and regulatory arenas.
What You Will Do
Develop and execute National Grid’s government relations and external affairs strategy throughout New York City in support of the company’s operational, legislative, regulatory, infrastructure, and public policy priorities. Coordinate with the Director of State Government Relations to ensure statewide cohesion in policy development as well as the messaging and strategy to achieve those goals.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in government relations, legislative affairs, public affairs, public policy, political consulting, government or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with New York City and New York State elected officials, government agencies, regulators, and community stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of New York City’s political, legislative, regulatory, and community engagement landscape.
- Experience supporting complex infrastructure, energy, transportation, utility, environmental, or public sector initiatives is preferred.
