Job Description
The Law Enforcement Defense Division of the Office of the Attorney General represents the state's law enforcement agencies in civil proceedings. The Legal Assistant III - IV will perform legal tasks, including creating documents, coordinating discovery, and assisting attorneys in preparation for trial. The position requires strong organization and administrative skills, as well as knowledge of relevant law and legal principles.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • One year full-time experience as a legal assistant in civil litigation
  • Knowledge of relevant law and legal principles and practices
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Civil Procedures
  • Excellent organization/administrative skills
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication
  • Skill in conducting legal research
  • Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed
  • Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location
  • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
  • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
  • Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 10%
