Occupational Therapist (OT) - School-Based

As a school-based Occupational Therapist, you'll evaluate and support students whose fine-motor, visual-motor, sensory-motor, self-care, regulation, and other functional needs affect their ability to access and participate successfully in their educational environment. You'll work with students to provide direct services, with support from both the district and the TheraPeds team.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities may include providing direct occupational therapy services, conducting comprehensive evaluations and assessments, developing measurable IEP goals, developing and implementing individualized intervention plans, providing consultation and classroom-based support, and addressing fine-motor, visual-motor, sensory-motor, self-care, regulation, positioning, and functional school participation needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, OTD, or PhD degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• Current NBCOT certification
• Active or eligible for Oklahoma Occupational Therapist licensure
• Appropriate educational credentialing or authorization, if required for the specific school assignment
• Experience working with children or school-aged students
• School-based or pediatric Occupational Therapy experience preferred
• Strong foundation in sensory integration and sensory processing
• Knowledge of fine-motor, visual-motor, self-care, regulation, positioning, and functional participation within educational environments
• Understanding of IEPs, IDEA, special education processes, and educationally relevant Occupational Therapy services
• Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and intervention-planning skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Proficient in the use of technology for documentation, communication, and educational purposes
• Ability to successfully complete required fingerprinting and background clearances
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
• Demonstrated professionalism and ability to exercise a high level of tact, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment in internal and external communications
