Alera Group is looking for a seasoned benefits consultant to serve as a trusted advisor to our clients and a leader within our consulting practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating complex data into clear strategy, building long-term client partnerships, and developing the next generation of consultants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you’ll work closely with Producers, consultants, analysts, and internal partners to deliver thoughtful benefit strategies that align with each client’s philosophy, culture, and long-term goals.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Act as the primary advisor for complex client relationships, ensuring alignment with client goals and a high level of satisfaction

  • Lead strategic discussions by interpreting financial and market data into actionable insights and recommendations

  • Develop multi-year benefit strategies that balance cost, compliance, and employee experience

  • Identify opportunities to expand client solutions and partner across Alera to deliver added value

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead annual strategic reviews and collaborate with internal teams to design and evolve long-term benefit strategies

  • Deliver and explain financial analyses including renewals, budgets, and claims trends; build custom models to support client decision-making

  • Mentor and oversee consultants and analysts, ensuring strong execution across plan design, funding strategies, and vendor negotiations

  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex client or service issues, resolving challenges with confidence and care

  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to proactively guide clients


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience managing complex employee benefit accounts

  • Proven success in client retention, strategic consulting, and leadership

  • Strong expertise in underwriting and plan funding strategies (fully insured, level funded, self-insured)

Licensure

  • Active Life & Health License in state of residence

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills with strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

  • Experience with BenefitPoint preferred

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to tell a clear, compelling story through data

Interpersonal & Leadership Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to navigate and diffuse complex conversations

  • High emotional intelligence and a collaborative leadership style

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities across the full client lifecycle


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This job requires presence in the office on a hybrid schedule as agreed with the manager.

Where required (including remote): Salary range is $140K to $230K per year.
