Role Overview

The Office Services Clerk Lead provides assistance to the Office Supervisor with administrative, technical, and operational services to enable professional, managerial, and office support staff to accomplish the agency's goals in an efficient manner. This position relieves clerical staff to routine management functions relating to the daily operations within and out of the respective department. Overall, the position provides broad clerical and administrative support to the assigned location to support the Family Investment Administration (FIA) throughout the Baltimore City Department of Social Service (BCDSS) in determining eligibility for cash assistance, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), medical assistance (MA), Emergency Assistance to Families with Children (EAFC), and Childcare subsidies to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

What You Will Do

Maintain and monitor the flow of customers for the intake process of applications. Screen and upload new applications and initiate redeterminations on date of receipt; Run clearances using automated systems to obtain and verify customer information in accordance with federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and guidelines. Conducts operations ethically; Adheres to compliance requirements; Provides discipline and structure that influences staff awareness of and respect of operational controls.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Preference will be given to applicants who possess one year of computer experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, six months of experience in a Human Service capacity, and one year of experience reviewing and updating files following policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • Two years of experience performing clerical duties
  • One year of computer experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
