Role OverviewThe On-Call Public Safety Officer is a support and service unit of The Lawrenceville School, responsible for safety, security, and traffic management. The position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Safety and requires working any shift, including extra hours, with minimal notification.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining a daily shift log, recording safety hazards, filing formal reports, engaging with students, faculty, and visitors, and assisting with vehicle problems. The officer will also patrol campus roadways, ensure fire lanes and hydrants are clear, and monitor alarm systems.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license, basic knowledge of alarm systems, and a high level of work skills and behaviors, including teamwork, initiative, and customer service. Experience in an educational setting, EMS, Fire, or Police experience, and knowledge of dispatch systems and emergency procedures are preferred.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Able to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Basic knowledge in alarm systems is preferred
- High level of work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge
- Able to work well with all levels of Campus Personnel
- Must be available to work extra hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of six months prior relevant experience
- Experience in an educational setting preferred
- EMS, Fire, or Police experience is preferred
- Knowledge of dispatch systems, radio communications, fire systems, CCTV, Access Control System, and emergency procedures is preferred
