Role Overview

This is a one-semester program for students in their last semester of Process Technology instruction. The apprentice will train with and support process technicians while participating as a contributing member of the operations team. The apprentice will be responsible for monitoring and operating plant process equipment used in the manufacturing process.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include making rounds, assisting with taking readings, monitoring and maintaining day-to-day unit operations, learning about health, safety, and environmental hazards, and engaging in frequent developmental dialog with supervisor and others.

Successful candidates must possess a strong GPA, relevant coursework, and a willingness to work in a 24-hour, 365-day operation. The apprentice will be responsible for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and promoting a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours of relevant technology coursework
  • Register for the internship college course at their home college
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, and work at heights of 300 ft. or more
  • Ability to perform walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting a minimum 55 lbs
  • Basic computer skills
  • Possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment
  • Pass pre-employment screening process
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship
