Job Description
Equipment operators are responsible for operating heavy equipment for all civil operations in a safe and productive manner. They must take care of their equipment on a daily basis and help out the crew in other aspects as needed.
Requirements
Operate equipment in a safe and productive manner.
Coordination with foreman and site superintendent on daily tasks and production goals.
Safety of all site personnel; operators must be aware of their surroundings.
Treating equipment with care and avoiding damage to equipment as well as damage to existing conditions and new site improvements.
Daily sketch tickets and being aware of existing utilities both underground and overhead.
Working around existing utilities in a safe manner.
Safely working with other equipment operators on project specific tasks.
Equipment care and maintenance, daily equipment walkarounds and coordinating any maintenance with foreman or superintendent.
Must understand and utilize lockout tagout procedures.
Must wear PPE and always maintain wearing PPE (Hardhat, safety glasses, vest, closed toe boots) when exiting machinery.
Unloading material deliveries in a safe manner without damaging the material delivered.
Proper rigging techniques and rigging inspection – If new rigging is needed, notify foreman & superintendent immediately and remove faulty rigging from project.
Use of trench boxes and understanding trench safety.
Majority of time will be spent in operating equipment; however, you will be required to assist ground crews with physically demanding tasks as needed.
