Job Description
Equipment operators are responsible for operating heavy equipment for all civil operations in a safe and productive manner. They must take care of their equipment on a daily basis and help out the crew in other aspects as needed.

Requirements

  • Operate equipment in a safe and productive manner.
  • Coordination with foreman and site superintendent on daily tasks and production goals.
  • Safety of all site personnel; operators must be aware of their surroundings.
  • Treating equipment with care and avoiding damage to equipment as well as damage to existing conditions and new site improvements.
  • Daily sketch tickets and being aware of existing utilities both underground and overhead.
  • Working around existing utilities in a safe manner.
  • Safely working with other equipment operators on project specific tasks.
  • Equipment care and maintenance, daily equipment walkarounds and coordinating any maintenance with foreman or superintendent.
  • Must understand and utilize lockout tagout procedures.
  • Must wear PPE and always maintain wearing PPE (Hardhat, safety glasses, vest, closed toe boots) when exiting machinery.
  • Unloading material deliveries in a safe manner without damaging the material delivered.
  • Proper rigging techniques and rigging inspection – If new rigging is needed, notify foreman & superintendent immediately and remove faulty rigging from project.
  • Use of trench boxes and understanding trench safety.
  • Majority of time will be spent in operating equipment; however, you will be required to assist ground crews with physically demanding tasks as needed.
