Role Overview

This part-time, on-site role as a Orientation Mobility Specialist will provide direct services to students, conduct assessments, develop IEP plans, evaluate progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

What You Will Do

Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students, collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support, and provide one-on-one or small group instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree in Orientation & Mobility, Vision Studies, or related field preferred
  • COMS Certification (ACVREP) required or preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience working with children with visual impairments
  • Knowledge of orientation and mobility assessments and instruction
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Fingerprint background clearance
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications
