Role Overview

This part-time, on-site role as a Orientation Mobility Specialist will provide direct services to students, conduct assessments, develop IEP plans, evaluate progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

What You Will Do

As a school-based Orientation & Mobility Specialist, you'll assess and provide individualized instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired, helping them develop the skills necessary to travel safely, efficiently, and independently within their schools and communities.

We're looking for an Orientation & Mobility Specialist with a Bachelor's degree, current COMS certification, and experience working with children or school-aged students who are blind or visually impaired. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of orientation and mobility assessments, instructional methods, and evidence-based O&M practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) certification through ACVREP
  • Appropriate Missouri educational licensure, certification, or authorization
  • Experience working with children or school-aged students who are blind or visually impaired
  • 1+ years of school-based experience
