Role OverviewThe Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and validating returnable and expendable packaging systems for commercial and heavy-duty automotive components. This role partners closely with Program Management, Manufacturing, Logistics, and customers to deliver packaging solutions that protect product integrity, optimize transportation efficiency, and meet customer-specific requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
What You Will Do
Design and develop returnable and expendable packaging for complex automotive assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components. Conduct packaging feasibility studies, define dunnage concepts and container specifications, and evaluate foam, thermoform, corrugated and metal rack options. Develop and execute packaging validation plans, analyze failure modes, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in packaging design and development
- Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Experience with packaging feasibility studies, dunnage concepts, and container specifications
- Knowledge of foam, thermoform, corrugated and metal rack options
- Ability to develop and execute packaging validation plans
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
