Painter III

The Painter III will apply sub-coatings and finish coatings to all metal components and finished product, fulfilling all painting requirements, including parts painting to complete vehicle paint. The role requires close attention to detail, minimal supervision, and the ability to set work priorities to meet production goals.

What You Will Do

The Painter III will mix coatings with thinner and catalyst, apply coatings with all types of spray equipment, and paint parts to meet coverage and gloss standards. The role also involves maintaining spray equipment, following hazardous waste disposal programs, and ensuring a quality, lasting paint finish.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have five years of experience in automotive paint application, be able to consistently apply automotive coatings to an acceptable level, and be familiar with all aspects of paint blending, repair, and application of automotive coatings.

Requirements

• Five years experience in automotive paint application
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
• Ability to read and understand verbal instructions presented in English
• Ability to read English and Metric tape measures and use measuring devices
• Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards
• Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
• Ability to run dual action sanders, grinders, and miscellaneous hand tools
• Ability to spray primers with an air paint system
• Ability to read and interpret shop orders to determine the color required
• Ability to determine the proper surface condition for acceptance of paint and prepare if required
• Must have full knowledge of quality requirements to produce acceptable finish paint
• Must be able to spray an entire vehicle body with acceptable quality level
• Must be able to retain information taught with regard to chemicals and related items and the proper usage of the same
• Able to learn how to mix primers and other paint products
• Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Be trained in Hazardous Materials Handling Operations with an annual refresher course
• Hazardous waste training shall be provided to employee within six months of the date the employee filled this position
