Job Description
Para Special Education High Incidence role assists teachers with student education, behavior management, and daily routines. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and may need additional certifications or training. The role involves working with students with cognitive, communication, and social disabilities, and requires strong communication and teamwork skills.

Requirements

  • Supervises students in class setting
  • Assists in managing classroom routines and procedures
  • Assists in interventions to redirect behavior
  • Documents occurrences and provides feedback to develop positive self-esteem
  • Assists with student transportation and activities
  • Provides individual and/or group instruction
  • Maintains confidentiality and professional rapport with students, staff, and parents
  • Develops and maintains a professional rapport with classroom teacher and other staff
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, PLCs, and parent conferences
  • Acquires a minimum of 20 hours of in-service annually
  • Assists students with basic needs including self-care, hygiene, feeding, toileting, diapering, dressing, and physical transfers
