Role OverviewAssist a teacher in a special education classroom, supporting students with cognitive, communication, and behavioral disabilities. The para will supervise students, manage classroom routines, and assist with interventions to redirect behavior. This role requires flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
What You Will Do
Supervise students, manage classroom routines, assist with interventions, and provide feedback to students and teachers. Assist with student engagement, self-advocacy, and integration into regular education classrooms. Participate in effective teaming skills, collaboration, conflict resolution, and communication.
Why It Might Be a Fit
This role requires a strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing, as well as the ability to prioritize and organize tasks. The para will work under the supervision of an administrator and direction of a certificated/licensed staff, and must be able to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 48 accredited college credits (for Title School positions)
- Knowledge of sign language modalities, Braille, NCI, or other special skills (for some positions)
- First aid, symptoms of child abuse, and/or symptoms and signs of illness training or coursework (for some positions)
