Role Overview

Assist a teacher in a special education classroom, providing instructional assistance, managing student behavior, and communicating with students, staff, and parents.

What You Will Do

Supervise students, assist with classroom routines, intervene in crisis situations, and provide feedback to students and teachers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 48 accredited college credits verifiable with a transcript or pass a state-approved assessment
  • Physical Capacity Test (PCP)
  • In-service, training, or course work in first aid, symptoms of child abuse, and/or symptoms and signs of illness
  • Knowledge and literacy of various sign language modalities, Braille, NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), and/or other special skills
