Role OverviewThe Paralegal Specialist will work in the Legal Division, closely with the Public Records Unit, and provide direct support for management of the State Police Body Worn Camera (BWC) Program and public records requests. The role involves supporting attorneys, preparing cases for trial, retrieving and providing BWC video footage, analyzing legislation, and responding to inquiries. The Paralegal Specialist will work in a team environment, collecting documents and materials in response to public record requests.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities include preparing cases for trial, gathering documents, organizing case file documentation, briefing legal counsel, retrieving and redacting BWC video footage, analyzing proposed legislation, and responding to inquiries. The role also involves performing related duties such as developing case tracking systems, preparing correspondence, and operating office machines.

Requirements
- At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paraprofessional experience in legal research or legal assistant work
- An Associate's or higher degree with a major in paralegal studies may be substituted for the required experience
- Completion of one year of study at a recognized, degree-granting law school may be substituted for the required experience
