Job Description
The Paramedic is responsible for responding to requests by the nursing staff or physician staff to assist with BLS interventions and to assist with emergency care within the emergency department according to protocols and polices approved by the hospital and emergency department medical director, and hospital policy.

Requirements

  • Responds to requests for paramedic level services from areas within the emergency department in a timely and safe manner.
  • Completes documentation and records according to hospital and department policy.
  • Ensures emergency preparedness equipment is ready for response at all times.
  • Assists with codes and critical care patients within the emergency department at the paramedic level, including interdepartmental transport and monitoring.
  • Assists charge nurse and/or triage nurse in assessing, prioritizing, and maintaining patient flow and assists in reassessing patient waiting to be seen.
  • Responsible to C-Med communication.
  • Assists EMS providers with medications and supply restocking in accordance with hospital agreements with individual providers.
  • Participates in community activities, which improve the public’s understanding of the EMS system
  • Pursues new levels in paramedicine technology and participates in activities which contribute to professional growth and development.
