Role OverviewUnder the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard maintains safe swimming conditions, prevents accidents, and responds to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Maintain safe swimming conditions, perform swim tests, enforce health and safety rules, and respond to emergency situations.

Requirements
- YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard certification
- Advanced swimming and rescue skills test
- Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making
- Ability to relate to people in a positive, but firm manner
- Ability to observe and be safety conscious
- Ability to react calmly and quickly in an emergency
- Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA programs
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and have full range of body movement
