Role Overview

The Shelter Associate is a part-time, hourly position responsible for caring for shelter cats, maintaining shelter sanitation, and providing front-line customer service. The role involves cat care, volunteer oversight, shelter sanitation, customer service, and reception duties. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and over one year of professional experience.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include cat care and volunteer oversight, shelter sanitation, customer service, and reception duties. The Shelter Associate will provide care to shelter cats, maintain accurate records, monitor cat health, train and oversee volunteers, manage laundry, clean dishes, maintain washrooms, and provide clients with accurate information regarding cat admissions.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of animal sheltering, cat behavior, cash handling, and computer programs. They will be able to communicate effectively in person and in writing, prioritize tasks, analyze and solve problems, remain organized, and work independently with little direction or supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over one year of professional experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Previous experience working within a volunteer organization or animal shelter
