Role Overview

The Patient Care Technician assists and supports the Professional Registered Nurse in all aspects of direct and indirect patient care activities. The role is an integral part of the team, working under the direction and supervision of the professional Registered Nurse.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include assisting with admission, transfer, and discharge process, taking and recording vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimens. The Patient Care Technician also maintains a safe and clean environment, performs duties delegated by the RN, and participates in quality improvement activities.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a CNA Certification or be currently enrolled in School of Nursing, with a minimum of 90% correct on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to relate to patients, family, nursing, and medical staff.

Requirements

  • CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing
  • CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • Minimum of 90% correct on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes
  • Unit based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring
  • High school diploma required. One year of college or nursing education or equivalent experience preferred
