Role OverviewThe Patient Care Technician role is part of the CDH Cardiac Intermediate (3A) unit, a 26-bed cardiac step-down unit within Northwestern Medicine's Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI). This part-time night position (6pm-6:30am with rotating weekends) provides advanced cardiac care in a suburban setting, caring for patients with cardiovascular diagnoses including post-cardiac surgeries and procedures.
What You Will Do
Under RN supervision, perform basic patient care activities including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, recording intake/output, and assisting with personal care and activities of daily living. Report abnormal findings to nursing staff, maintain patient room cleanliness, answer telephones and call lights, and manage unit workflow in concert with the charge RN.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, certification as CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed, and AHA BLS certification. The unit has been in the top decile of patient satisfaction for over 8 years and offers cross-training opportunities to the Telemetry Department.
