Role OverviewNorthwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the CDH Medical Care Center (4 A/B/C), a 24-bed unit serving adult general medical and medical oncology patients. The patient population includes young adults (age 18) to geriatric, with diagnoses such as gastrointestinal disorders, heart or lung conditions, uncontrolled metabolic disorders, infectious processes, and more. This full-time day position (6am-6:30pm with rotating weekends) is based in Winfield, IL.
What You Will Do
Under the supervision of an RN, you will perform basic patient care activities including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, recording intake and output, and assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating. You will report abnormal findings to nursing staff, assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly, and manage unit workflow in concert with the charge RN. Additional duties include answering telephones and call lights, and performing pre-census and validation of admission, discharge, and census lists.
