Role OverviewNorthwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the CDH Medical Oncology (4A) unit in Winfield, IL. This is a part-time night position (6pm-6:30am with rotating weekends) on a 26-bed specialized adult oncology/step down unit affiliated with the NM Warrenville Cancer Center. The unit cares for patients 18 years and older, treating all cancer diagnoses, including inpatient chemotherapy, symptom management, and palliative/end-of-life care.
What You Will Do
Under the supervision of an RN, perform basic patient care activities including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, recording intake and output, and assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating. Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff, assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly, and serve as a liaison between patient care units and other departments. Manage overall unit workflow in concert with the charge RN or assistant manager as needed.
