Role Overview

The Patient Care Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program. Under the supervision of an RN, the role performs basic patient care activities in a Med Surg unit. This position is full-time, night shift (7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) with alternating weekends and holidays.

What You Will Do

Perform basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating. Report abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions to nursing staff. Manage unit workflow in concert with the charge RN, answer telephones and call lights, and assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with certification as a CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed. American Heart Association BLS certification is required. Preferred qualifications include phlebotomy experience or graduation from an accredited Nursing Assistant program.
