Role OverviewNorthwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the CDH Surgical Care Center (2 B/C), a 49-unit caring for post-surgical, acute care patients recovering from a variety of orthopedic and general surgeries. This full-time night shift role (6pm-6:30am with rotating weekends) is based in Winfield, IL. The Patient Care Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
What You Will Do
Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming and eating. Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly, answers telephone, intercom and call lights, and manages overall unit workflow in concert with the charge RN and/or assistant manager.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, certification as a CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred qualifications include phlebotomy experience or graduation from an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course.
