Role Overview

This Patient Care Technician role is in the Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (2A) at Northwestern Medicine in Winfield, IL. The 26-bed unit provides treatment, care, and service to adult patients with acute medical, surgical and cardiac conditions, specializing in complicated surgeries such as esophagectomies, whipples, and surgical-oncology cases. The role is part-time nights (6pm-6:30am) with rotating weekends.

What You Will Do

Under the supervision of an RN, you will perform basic patient care activities including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. You will assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating, and report abnormal findings to nursing staff. You will also answer telephones and call lights, manage unit workflow, and assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
