Paving Foreperson

The Paving Foreperson is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the asphalt paving crews. This position will primarily perform supervisory duties, but on rare occasions may assist with general laborer, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks as needed. The position will report directly to the Paving Superintendent.

What You Will Do

Coordinates and plans daily work activities, sets production targets, job site organization, reading of plans and work orders, interpretation of specifications, overall quality of finished the product. Supervises and schedules work crews. Coordinates quality control testing as required.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge and previous experience of the asphalt paving industry and its means and methods.
• Demonstrated the ability to supervise and lead crew members.
• Ability to understand plans, specifications, and grades.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, and CDL laws and procedures.
• Must demonstrate safety awareness and comply with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
• A Standard Driver’s License is required. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.
