Role OverviewThe Pharmacist is responsible for clinical review of medication orders for the hospital and serves as a clinical resource to Providers, Nursing staff and other departments. Oversees the preparation and dispensing of medications to inpatients, emergency room and ambulatory clinics. Participates in multi-disciplinary clinical rounds on patient units and provides clinical information to medical staff. Maintains standards set by the department and adheres to policies and procedures of the Pharmacy to meet the standards of Joint Commission.
What You Will Do
Performs clinical review of medication orders from prescribers throughout the hospital including Emergency room, Critical Care unit, Pediatrics and Medical Surgical units. Oversees preparation and distribution of medication orders, ensures correct labeling and drug components, and oversees Sterile, Non-Sterile and Hazardous compounds. Reviews patient medication profiles and monitors clinical parameters to ensure proper drug choice, dosage, and therapy. Trains, supervises, educates, and checks the work of Pharmacy Technicians and students.

Requires a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution, with an advanced degree preferred. Minimum of one to three years experience as a Registered Pharmacist in a hospital preferred. Must hold a Pharmacist license from the Board of Registration in Pharmacy (Massachusetts). A.S.H.P. accredited residency preferred. Day shift with every 3rd week of evening rotation as well as every 3rd weekend.
